Aliki Kirmitsi was born in Nicosia in 1981. She lives and works between London and Cyprus. She studied Interactive Arts at the University of Manchester and Spatial Design at Chelsea College of the University of the Arts London. She has experimented with various materials and has explored food as a sculpting ingredient. She emphasizes the creative representation of social issues such as our connection to food, both nutritionally and as a point of national and social identity. She has collaborated with companies such as Sony, Selfridges and BMW, and has been responsible for the artistic direction and design of various publications, events and installations in many countries. Her recent work constitutes a study for the recording of absence and the capture of the non-present by using materials of minor importance.
