Avraam Hirodontis was born in Nicosia in 1989. He lives and works in Limassol. He studied Fine Arts at the University for the Creative Arts, UK. His practice has as its main theme the exploration of the properties of materials in the field of painting. His research work is titled The Materiality of the Grid and refers to 20th century contemporary artistic practices. In his latest works, Hirodontis experiments with the properties of canvas fabric, a material that is very often used simply as a surface on which images are created.
