Demetra Kallitsi was born in 1989 in Nicosia, where she lives and works. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Salford, and in 2013 completed an MA in Fine Arts at the University of Brighton. Her practice focuses on visual performance, textiles, embroidery and creative writing. Her work is autobiographical and she interprets performance as a sort of public catharsis where art becomes an act of activism.
