Fernanda Fragateiro [53694]

Born in Montijo, Portugal, in 1962, she lives and works in Lisbon. Fernanda Fragateiro’s work has been exhibited in major group exhibitions, at Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rome, in 2019; in Portugal, at Anozero – Biennial of Contemporary Art of Coimbra, Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, Lisbon, and Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, Evora, in 2017; Palm Springs Art Museum, CA, USA, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon, and CaixaForum, Barcelona, in 2016; Palais des Beaux-Arts de Paris, and Orlando Museum of Art, FL, Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, and Krannert Art Museum, Champaign, IL, in the USA, in 2015; CIFO Art Space, Miami, FL; The Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York, Koldo Mitxelena Kulturunea, San Sebastian, Spain, and MUAC – Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo, Mexico City, in 2014, among others.
Sculpture and installation have been Fragateiro’s media of choice, working with space in its various phenomenological manifestations – architectural, sculptural, private, public, temporal, socially determined –, whether through sculptural works, outdoor installations or interventions, collaborations in architectural projects or works that are based on public participation.
