Born in Artvin, Turkey, in 1954. He has been living and working in Paris since 1978.
His first drawings were published in Ankara in 1973. He later continued to publish his works in major magazines and newspapers while studying Architecture at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara. His works have appeared in numerous publications in Turkey, such as Cumhuriyet, Politika, Milliyet, T24, as well as abroad in Le Monde, Le Monde Diplomatique, Le Nouvel Observateur, in France; The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time, The Boston Globe, The Nation, in the USA. The artist has also authored a number of drawing albums, illustration books and books for young people. He designs posters and visuals printed on various media. He regularly exhibits in Europe. He has published over 50 books throughout his 45-year career.
