Serap Kanay was born in Famagusta in 1961. She holds a BA Fine Art Honours Degree from London Guildhall University and in 2014 she earned a Research Masters Degree in Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam. Kanay is interested in the telling and the archive of alternative histories. Kanay focuses on memory, oral history and African heritage through installations where she employs sound, text, textiles and photographs. In 2010 she collaborated with Armin Linke and Aristide Antonas.
